Welcome

The laboratory of Dr. Sussel is focused on understanding the complex transcriptional networks that regulate development, differentiation and function of the pancreas. To date, only a handful of regulatory factors involved in pancreas development have been thoroughly characterized and many of the molecular pathways that specify islet cell differentiation and function are poorly understood. For this reason, we are using cutting edge molecular biology techniques paired with advanced mouse genetics to more clearly define the roles of coding and non-coding genes involved in the development of the pancreas, the regulation of islet cell differentiation, and endocrine function.
